The Amalfi Coast, in Italy, is filled with a lot of incredible things to do. This coastal area tends to delight tourists with it’s incredible beauty and variety of things to do. In order to see it all, you really shouldn’t stay in just one spot. If you find yourself in the Amalfi Coast, here’s how to get around.
Rent A Car
Many tourists ask themselves what to see on the Amalfi Coast. After they are there for just a few hours they will find that there are plenty of things to fill their days. To see as much as possible, you may want to consider renting a car to get around. Why not base yourself at Positano and venture out to nearby villages and towns.
You will find that there are plenty of places to drive to so it will be well worth it. However, one thing that you should keep in mind is that many of the streets are narrow and wind around the coast. Therefore, if you aren’t comfortable driving in these types of conditions, you may want to consider getting around another way.
Use Local Transport
If you don’t want to rent a car while in the Amalfi Coast, don’t worry as you can easily utilize the local transport. The bus system is fairly efficient in the area. It will take you where you want to go or pretty close to it. Prices tend to be affordable as well which makes it for an inexpensive option to get around this area. The busses do get crowded though so be prepared for a lot of tourists and not many places to sit.
Take A Walk
The Amalfi Coast is around 25 miles and fairly walkable. One of the nice things about walking around the Amalfi Coast is that you can see spots that you wouldn’t normally be able to by car or bus. If you do plan on getting around the area this way, make sure you do it when it’s cooler out, such as in the fall. Besides the more tolerable temperatures, there will be less tourists as well. Just make sure you pack your walking shoes and be prepared for the often elevated terrain.
Go On A Tour
You can get from one place to another while you are in the Amalfi Coast by going on a tour. There are a variety of tours to choose from that provide transportation to the destination. While on one of these tours you can not only see the location, but learn about it as well. It will prove to be a unique, educational experience for those that want to learn about the place that they are visiting. Tours include sightseeing trips or boat tours off of the coast to places such as Capri Island.
As you can see, there are many ways to get around the Amalfi Coast. While many tourists do choose to rent a car, some are just too terrified of the hairpin turns to even attempt it. Don’t let this deter you as there are plenty of other ways to get around such as the local transport, going on a tour or even by just walking around.
